Victorian Hanging Oil Lamp Cranberry Red Glass Shade Picture(s) and Description:

Victorian

Victorian parlor hanging oil lamp with a cranberry red glass shade. The shade is in great shape. There's a pattern in the glass, see photos. The spot on the shade in the first picture is a reflection of a fixture on my ceiling, not damage to the shade. The shade measures about 5 7/8" across the upper rim and about 13 3/4" across the lower rim. The lower rim is smooth, not chipped. No cracks anywhere in the glass. There is one surface scuff mark on the side measuring about 2 3/4" in length and about maybe a 16th" wide, if that, located about 2" above the lower rim, not very noticeable. The upper rim is scuffed with a minor chip or two, this was probably caused by the mount because the shade rotates in the crown bracket, nothing too serious or noticeable. There's a small dimple on the exterior of the glass. The glass font is partially clear with a frosted, designed mid section. Good condition, no cracks or chips, only a few small white paint splatters. The brass oil fill lid opens and closes just fine. Includes a long wick. The chimney is clear glass with no chips or cracks. The bracket assembly is in wonderful condition, not bent or out of shape. The hanging fixture has pulley wheels to accomodate ceiling chains (retractable or not), see last photo. There are two patent dates, one is stamped on the brass hanging fixture "PAT P June 7th, 1881" (indicating patent pending). The other reads "PAT June 6, 1882" (patent approved) and is stamped on the lower fixture of the font bracket. The lamp assembles/disassembles easily. *** The color of the shade appears differently in the photos because of different camera light settings used. **** I apologize to those of you who have noticed my many changes on this listing, I'm obviously a very indecisive person, and I hate to admit it to myself but it's getting worse with age!!! PLEASE check out my other listings; antiques, jewelry, perfume bottles, household, novelty, porcelain, glassware, collectibles and sterling silver listings. ~~ Lots of sterling jewelry listed this week ~~ Low opening auction listings ~~ ~!~!~ALL REASONABLE OFFERS ON "BUY IT NOW OR BEST OFFER" LISTINGS ACCEPTED~!~!~ More listings added regularly. I'm in auction/estate sale mode these days. Never know what treasures you might find!!! PLEASE READ: The items sold in my listings are pre-owned/vintage and/or antiques. These things come from a variety of locations...I may not always be aware if they carry a particular odor or if they have previously been in a household with pets, smoke or other allergens. If you are sensitive to certain allergens keep this information in mind before placing a bid or making your purchase. *** Most of the jewelry (costume and fine), glass, ceramic, porcelain and sterling items get at least one bubble bath at my home but on rare occassion something may run and hide at bath time or in other words, just plain get overlooked... Shipping within the continental U.S.A. only please. This is subject to exceptions, please feel free to email me if you're an international buyer. Combined/multiple purchase shipping discount available. Shipping cost often includes some of my handling cost (bubble wrap, bubble envelopes, packing peanuts, tape, etc.). It also includes shipping insurance if an item sells for $50.00 or more. I do everything in my power to make sure your purchase arrives in one piece!!! ***My shipping costs are estimated and set as a flat rate. Sometimes it costs as much as $4.00 dollars more to ship an item and sometimes as much as $4.00 less depending on where you live in respect to where I live. I try my best to keep it reasonable for everyone. For now, this is the only way I can list a shipping price until I buy a set of scales. I normally ship USPS priority mail, it's faster and free boxes, so I list priority mail as the means of shipping on most of my listings but on rare occassion I get caught off-guard with an extremely high priority mail cost and will have to switch to parcel post. I apologize in advance for this if it should happen. Payments are expected within 7 days but most of you are great with this ~ just communicate with me if you need more time and please remember to keep me informed. Full refunds will be given if there's a notable discrepancy in my description upon safe, undamaged return of the item. The buyer is responsible for the return shipping expense including fully covered shipping insurance if the item was sent out with shipping insurance. ***** 5 Star Feedback Only Please!! ***** If you are unhappy with any part of a transaction, contact me before leaving any adverse feedback. I watch for messages regularly and will respond within 24 hours. You will find I'm very fair and easy to work with. Negative feedback is extremely harmful to a seller in a variety of ways; #1 - It affects the way a buyer views a seller not to mention, a seller gets lower discounts and credits from ebay and ultimately a selling account can be suspended. Believe me, I'm not complaining, just explaining!! I love life and hope you do too!!!
