Fostoria Red Rose Gone With the Wind GWTW Lamp In Oil Picture(s) and Description:

Up for auction is a very beautiful Victorian Gone with the Wind parlor oil or kerosene lamp. Very large lamp, white opal glass, fancy decorated matching glass base and shade with a beautiful red rose motif. Measures 23” tall and 12” wide overall. The lamp has a fancy brass wash cast iron base, brass connector, removable vase lamp font, old thin glass chimney, big heavy 10” fitter half shade, shade ring with prisms. Wick turner marked “Made in US of America”, flame spreader signed “Fostoria”, with 1890s patent dates, the cast base signed “F. G. Co.” underneath. The glass portion of the lamp was manufactured by Fostoria Glass Company, probably in Moundsville WV as most of the vase lamps were produced there rather than in Fostoria Ohio. The brass and metal work vase pot and burner were manufactured by Plume & Atwood, Waterbury CT, ca. 1890s. The lamp just came out of the house in un-electrified, un-restored condition. The glass and decoration is great condition all around, no chips, cracks or problems, the shade is cut and ground on the top and bottom, rather rough from manufacture on the bottom. I added a wick, flame spreader, chimney, and two prisms (the clean ones), original patina, complete, and working condition now, just add kerosene and fire it up if you want. I do note a small dent on the bottom of the metal font, tank does not leak, and the old shade ring is a bit wobbly under the weight of the heavy shade and prisms, be careful if you move or carry it around much. Beautiful old GWTW lamp for collection, display, or use around the home!!! Terms for closing the sale. We do our best to ensure that all items are represented as accurately as possible.
