This item comes from the remarkable Frankart, art deco statuary and pin-up collection of Mike Wooldridge, a lifetime collector & co-author of "Pin Up Dreams" a monograph on Rolf Armstrong that was researched and enthusiastically compiled by Mike over many years. Mike was without question the greatest scholar of Armstrong, the American illustrator and Calendar Pin-up artist. We will be offering his entire estate over the coming months. Mike was a familiar presence to much of the ebay community, known by his user name -"pinupper"- both as a savvy collector and upstanding seller. His sudden death in January of 2010 was a tremendous loss to his family, friends, and the collecting community at large. ITEM: You are bidding on an antique original 1930's art deco large decorative French figural lamp. With a Cleopatra erotic figure in deep contemplation with colors cast by the original millefiori glass shade . The figure is spelter metal with a bronzed patina and wash and the base is alabaster -- A well defined and executed and art deco jazz-age in aesthetic iconic design. This original example is in very good working condition, the cord has some age but is newer than the lamp with an on/off switch and appears to be clean and usable. Lamp has a small French or European sized bulb socket fitting we will include a working bulb for this. Measures 8 1/2" tall to top of the figures head and the base is 10" by 4 1/2" the millefiori shade is original to the lamp and has an opening of 2" on the bottom to fit the fitter base.
