ANTIQUE POLICE/MILITARY BULLYSEYE OIL LAMP/LANTERN Picture(s) and Description:

Arrow mark Identification marks ANTIQUE POLICE/MILITARY BULLSEYE OIL LAMP/LANTERN Description A manually operated hand held oil lamp or lantern which I believe would have been used as a Police Lantern. I have, however, seen similar lanterns described as boat signals lanterns and military issued lanterns. The lantern is made of metal, possibly tin and is hand held with a belt hook. The light is turned off by manually turning the chimney at the top. Complete with the glass and burner which has a wick,the lantern has some indentification marks on the front door. I have photographed the marks from inside but are unable to read them. I also appears to have the Department of Defence of Military arrow mark on the belt hook. Condition The lantern appears to be complete. There is some rust which can been seen in the photographs.
