Antique Mission Style Slag Glass Lamp Parts Shade Wood Picture(s) and Description:

Antique

ANTIQUE MISSION STYLE SLAG GLASS LAMP PARTS Up for auction are some parts of a beautiful antique slag glass lamp. These Mission Style lamps were popular during the early 1900's and into the Arts and Crafts period. I'm not sure who made this lamp. There are no manufacturer markings, other than the stamped numbers "3797", "142", and "4" on the underside of the base. Included in this auction is a green slag glass shade and a wooden base. I don't have any of the hardware. The wooden arms for supporting the shade are also missing. If you're handy and have access to some lamp parts, this lamp would be a good restoration project. The 4-panel shade measures about 16" square and 11" tall. The individual triangular-shaped slag glass pieces measure about 13" wide and 9 1/2" tall. The wood base measures about 22" tall and the bottom is 7" square. The top is octagon shaped and has 2 exit holes for angled bulb receptacles. The stem portion has 4 sides. Wooden support arms (missing) are supposed to attach the stem to the wood framing of the shade. I'm not sure what type of wood the lamp is made of. I believe that it's oak, but I'm not certain. I purchased this lamp at an estate sale recently. It's guaranteed to be from the early 1900's and NOT a reproduction. Condition of these lamp parts is GOOD. The old slag glass is in EXCELLENT shape. The wood framing of the shade has some nicks and bumps, but is intact. I did notice that 2 small triangular-shaped pieces of wood are missing at the apex of 2 of the glass triangles (visible in photos). These could easily be crafted and replaced. As I mentioned earlier, the shade support arms and all of the hardware is missing. The wooden base needs cleaned and possibly refinished, although it currently has a nice antique patina. Overall, what's included looks good and displays well. Please take a close look at the many photos I've provided and judge condition for yourself. I think you'll be pleased.
