ANTIQUE ART DECO 1930′s CHROME & BAKELITE LAMP – 51 cm Picture(s) and Description:

This is an outstanding unique Art Deco lamp in an extremely rare combination of chrome and butterscotch bakelite. Sleek and ultra-stylish, the lamp features an extremely heavy octagonal chrome base surmounted by a stylized x-shaped foot in bakelite, and a tapered bakelite stem with absolutely superb “machine-age” multi-stepped chrome spindles at the base and neck. Further complementing the beauty of this rare lamp is a stunning octagonal “skyscraper” shade in heavy white glass, domed, 3-tiered and multi-ribbed to the corners of each tier. The lamp was recently rewired to Australian safety standards with luxury-quality brown braided cord appropriate to its era, a high-quality chrome gallery and lampholder incorporating a “push-bar” on/off switch, but still retains its 1930’s brown bakelite plug. Dimensions Height, with shade: 51 cm / 20” Height, without shade: 35.5 cm / 14” Base, max dia : 14 cm / 5 ½ ” Shade height: 16.5 cm / 6 ½ ” Shade dia: 15 cm / 6 ” Weight: 2.065 kg / 4 lb 8 oz Condition The lamp is absolutely superb condition, the bakelite is glossy with no chips, cracks or scratches, and the chrome is bright, shiny and with no pitting whatsoever (one very faint surface scratch to the back of the octagonal base, beneath the cord). All white/dark/coloured marks or patches are merely reflections. **************************************************** Please note: It is not only in the best interest of the seller but also that of the bidder that the "small print" below be read carefully please, prior to bidding.
