ANTIQUE ART DECO 1930′s CHROME & BAKELITE LAMP – 51 cm Picture(s) and Description:

This is an outstanding unique Art Deco lamp in an extremely rare combination of chrome and butterscotch bakelite. Sleek and ultra-stylish, the lamp features an extremely heavy octagonal chrome base surmounted by a stylized x-shaped foot in bakelite, and a tapered bakelite stem with absolutely superb “machine-age” multi-stepped chrome spindles at the base and neck. Further complementing the beauty of this rare lamp is a stunning octagonal “skyscraper” shade in heavy white glass, domed, 3-tiered and multi-ribbed to the corners of each tier. The lamp was recently rewired to Australian safety standards with luxury-quality brown braided cord appropriate to its era, a high-quality chrome gallery and lampholder incorporating a “push-bar” on/off switch, but still retains its 1930’s brown bakelite plug.
