mkhda Store 1868 Antique Art Nouveau Oil Kerosene Lamp w/ Globe~NR Up for auction is this very unusual oil lamp and globe. It measures 17" tall (to top of globe). The globe is white with hand painted blue floral design. It is very nice in that all the paint is present and none faded, especially since some area are raised on the globe. There are no chips, cracks or damage to the globe. There is no chimney with this lamp. The burner is made of brass. The thumbscrew has the date of 1868 as the patent date. The reservoir has a few very fine hairline splits. I do not want to fill this with oil and then ship so I can not say if it would leak. If you intend to use this lamp you may need to seal these before use. Some collectors are very particular with regards to this so I will leave it to the next owner if they want to do this. The lamp base is made of heavy metal, steel I believe in a very distinct Art Nouveau style. There are 4 profiles of a man in what appears to be Elizabethan dress. The surrounding metal has the appearance of hammered metal and the corners have a floral pattern. The feet of the lamp are cloven hooves. All said a very interesting lamp that you may want to consider.
